Synopsis

The blue crab (Callinectes sapidus) is the main species of commercial exploitation forming part of the fishery of several countries. This crab is present in tropical ecosystems and has a natural distribution on the Atlantic coast of America from Nova Scotia in Canada to Río de la Plata in Argentina, including the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico; being located as a introduced species in Europe and Asia.
